Question:
Hi all, planning to rent a car to drive from Sydney Airport to Blue Mountain. Is there some FAQ on this ? Some questions: 1. Is it easy to have in-promptu hotel check-in in early Sep around Blue Mountain area ? 2. Any particular precaution in take note of in the journey ? 3. Any package to take up @ the Sydney airport ? Thank you and regards, Ken

Which hotel were you thinking of? >2. Any particular precaution in take note of in the journey ?
Not really. When were you thinking of doing it? (Snow and ice *may* be a probelm in the next few weeks). >3. Any package to take up @ the Sydney airport ?
Dunno. ever thought of catching a cab up here? Sydney cabs will charge you in the region of $A250, our co-op sets a fixed rate of $A184, my cab will do it for $150, from the airport to Katoomba (the heart of the Blue Mountains). Thrifty is vailable in Katoomba, so you might like to consider it, since you don’t want to get off a long flight (SIN is eight hours away, after all) and have to undertake a two hour drive. Dave

The drive will take about 2 hours There is a toll on the Motorway. Whilst there is some new road construction around Lawson, the road is good all the way to Katoomba where I assume you will seek accommodation. You should not have a great deal of difficulty finding accommodation, but it might take a a couple of enquiries. The hire car company will provide maps. Geoff Lillico

Unless yr planning on using the fcar in the Blue Mountains region, I would suggest taking the train from Central Station to Katoomba (you can also take the train from the airport to Central Station). Most accommodations in Blue Mountains area don’t have check-in before noon…but this depends on the day..if the property has vacancies from the night before.

I would suggest you email me and I will arrange for my Katoomba cab to pick you up and take you to where you want to go. We will do you an exceptional deal.
