Hotels FAQ » Hotel Accommodation » Sydney for 2000
Question:
My partner and I (we are both from th U.K.) want to celebrate the new millenium in Sydney. Unfortunately we are having a problem trying to reserve/book flights so far in advance. This is causing us a real headache as quite a few of the hotels in Sydney are already fully booked for the 1999/2000 new year period and some have even closed their waiting lists they are already so long. Should I book the accommodation without arranging a flight in the hope I can get the availability I want or should I wait until the flights are announced which probably won’t be until Jan/Feb 1999. To complicate things we would like to stop off for Christmas 1999 in either LA or Fiji. Any thoughts people? Regards Tom

Book the hotel now – As airline flights are only available for sale about a year ahead max., you can always cancel the hotel later if you really have to. Just make sure you find out about cancellation penalties before you book ! There is no complication with stopping over in LAX or Fiji on the way through – get a Round The World fare with Air NZ as one of the carriers – they fly from London to LA and have flights from LAX to Fiji and could then bring you through to Sydney. Cheers. Al.

Wrong year. The new millenium starts on 1 January 2001. No flamewars, we’ve been through it in this newsgroup many times before. The new millenium starts on 1 January 2001. Cheers David
