Hotels FAQ » Hotel Accommodation » La Palma – Accommodation ?
Question:
Hi !! I’d like to visit La Palma after easter for two weeks. I’m looking to book the fligt and the accommodation separately. – Which part of the island should I prefer (I’d like to walk along easy routes) ? – Do you have a suggestion for a good accommodation (hotel, pension or finca with bakery service) ? – Where can I find the cheapest flights to La Palma ? Many thanks !!! Ingo from germany

Inga, There are many websites about La Palma, including German language. We have a website in Dutch and English. www.islalapalma.com which has some accommodation. http://www.islalapalma.com/urlaub/ for the German language accomodation page. All our accommodation is full for the Easter period, one place is available from 30th March, the others from mid April. Not sure about Fincas with bakery service. The tourist accommodation tends to be small indivuidual (Canarian style) houses and bungalows except for the one or two resort-type hotels in Los Cancajos and one in Puerto Naos. These are in the holiday brochures. The west side of the island has the most sun for those people who just want to frizzle in the sun all day. Otherwise most of the island has very agreeable temperatures and the coastal areas on the east coast are also fine. There are marked walking paths all over the island the most are in the Northern half, around the central ridge and the volcanic areas in the south. Plenty of choice varying from a stroll throught the orchards of Las Tricias (NE), or the tropical rain forest at Los Tilos or along the water channels and the tunnels in the north -east. Then there are the more/very strenuous Volcano route or the Caldera route. Bear in mind that La Palma is one of the steepest islands in the world (altitude to width ratio) so not many walks are flat! We’ve heard that flights from the UK and Netherlands are full around Easter, but I’m not sure what the situation is from Germany. There are charter flights from MUC, ZRH,LEJ,DUS,SXF,HAM,BRE,ACE,PAD,FRA,STR,FKB,NUE. Visitors from The Netherlands use (for example) www.seatonly.nl and from the UK www.cheapflights.co.uk Not sure what the German equivalent is. Brian
