Minnie: you’ve obviously never attended CEBIT before.  EVERY hotel in Hannover will be booked not just for CEBIT 2002, but also for 2003.  You might just get a booking now for 2004.  Last time our people attended and booked late, they ended up staying in Hamburg.  The CEBIT website has details of private homes which rent rooms – may be a better option as they indicate Hannover hotels from EUR400 and up – which is outrageous.  They will also book hotels in the Hannover area, which they define as up to 180km from the city! Where are you travelling from?

Response:

Minnie, My bf and friends attend CeBit every year. Good Luck finding accommodation. They stay in a private home every year..you may still find that kind of accommodation possible. Other than that ..yes..everything has been booked since atleast last year’s CeBit. Did you check already via http://www.cebit.de/25144 ? http://www.shopping.hannover.de/vm_english/sh_reise/sh_unter/sh_priva… also list lots of accommodation agencies… In general, the situation is not as hopless as some people want to make you think as many visitors cancel on a very short term. Jens

Response:

That’s true Jens. Minnie will probably get a place on a cancellation. Booking so late just doesn’t give her many options. Hopefully she will find a good place with internet connection that she needs..and not pay an arm and leg… Minnie..let us know what you find please.. Well I have just talked to a friend in Hannover who usually rents out a room in his apartment for visitors of Cebit. He told me that this week he had called some agencies to offer his room and they said that they didn’t need any more…..so maybe this year the situation isn’t that tense??? I was at Midem in Cannes this year, attendance was down by 5000 (out of 13,000). So maybe things will be a bit smoother at  Cebit too.
