Question:
One veyr central hotel is the Park Hotel. I shudder to think what it costs per night for a room there, but it has a very good reputation.

Thanks, you’re the second person who’s suggested the Park, I’ll have to check it out (with appropriate trepidation…)

It has now been renamed the Thistle Cardiff. I don’t think it is particularly expensive. It is about the same standard as Jurys, so I would expect it to be roughly the same price. Thistle sometimes have special deals. Check out their site. http://www.thistlehotels.com Doug

Why don’t you look up http://www.s-h-systems.co.uk/cardiff.html they have a listing of hotels and guest houses in Crdiff including links to colour brochures on the web. You may be able to find something you like there. Additionally there are a number of organisations with a web presence which specialise in B&B accommodation some of which is as good as a class hotel but cheaper. If you wish to look up some of these try: http://www.bbnationwide.co.uk or http://www.beduk/frameset.html Have a wonderful time. Gerrit Before you buy.

Thanks for the tip — I used a lot of search engines, but for some reason I never stumbled across this site, which is excellent.

During my trip in ‘89 I stayed at the Angel Hotel. I can’t imagine there are any nicer accomodations in Cardiff and it’s close to everything. I have no idea what the prices would be like today though. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->My girlfriend & I plan to spend a night in Cardiff (Wales) >at the end of March, and I’m trying to find a nice place to >stay.

I’ve heard the same from a few people — but unfortunately, the Angel seems to have a two-night minimum stay requirement, and I’m going to be there for only one night. (Guess I’ll have to come back when I can stay longer…)

My girlfriend & I plan to spend a night in Cardiff (Wales) at the end of March, and I’m trying to find a nice place to stay. From looking around on the Web, I’ve found Jury’s (at 105 pounds) and St. David’s (at 98 pounds), both of which look very nice and neither of which is outrageously expensive (especially when compared to London, where we’ll be driving in from). The St. David’s rate is especially reasonable because it is a weekend rate that includes breakfast. If any of you are familiar with either of these hotels, I was hoping that you could share with me your opinion of them. Or if you can recommend another good hotel that’s centrally located in Cardiff, I’d appreciate that too. Thanks for the info!
