Question:
We have a bit of a problem to find a reasonably priced ( < GBP 75 / night) hotel / B&B that has availability in Edinburgh for 7 – 10 June. Any advice? Thanks in advance. Sjoerd

You could look here – <http://www.aboutscotland.com/edin/west.html> If you don’t need to be right in the town centre, it should be easier to find something in your price range. The Corstorphine area (west of the centre) has a number of quite good, reasonably priced BnBs. If you can’t find anything, I can look through my notes from last year. Sheila Mackay Viemeister

The "accommodation" section at www.edinburgh.org lets you search for B&Bs in Edinburgh. The most centrally located ones will have low postcodes – EH1 or EH3 – there’s about a dozen listed, many with their own websites. Although they have a Contact form they don’t seem to offer the same enquiry/booking service as other tourist offices, perhaps they can if you ask. You can check the establishment’s postcode on streetmap.co.uk for a location map. The only event I can see happening on those dates that might attract a lot of visitors booking accommodation is Mark Knopfler at the Playhouse on the 8th. If you are interested in art, Royal Scottish Academy Annual Exhibition ends on the 11th, at the City Art Centre, 2 Market Street – behind Waverley train station on the Old Town side. Owain

Stayed at Hotel Ceilidh-donia last July. Paid GBP 55 per room. Located in a residential area 10 minutes by bus from the center. They have 13 rooms in a town house. There is a bar and restaurant at the hotel. Full Scottish breakfast. Internet access. Parking is available on the street. Their web site www.hotelceilidh-donia.co.uk Richard Antisdel
