Zurich can be very decadent. There are a lot of clubs and late night bars, strip clubs and druggies that hang out across the river from the train station. It’s a beautiful city but has more a red-light situation than one would imagine. I thought it was more dodgey than Amsterdam or Hamburg. Plus, it is very, very expensive. Especially in the club scene. If you have to ask how much, you can’t afford it. If you’re in Interlaken, you should head up to Wengen or Murren for some close-in winter ski resort action! It’ll be a lot more fun, and real!

And, speaking of being real, check http://www.rog.nam.ac.uk/leaflets/new_mill.html I have nothing against Zurich (or Interlaken), and certainly nothing against parties. Go have a good time! But if you are planning on celebrating the arrival of the new millennium, you may have to stay there longer than you expected.

We would really appreciate if someone could give us some advice about where to celebrate New Years out of Zurich / Interlaken. We are staying at a hostel in Interlaken, Switzerland, but have heard there will be great street parties in Zurich to celebrate the Millennium, so we are thinking of using our train passes to head up to Zurich and do a all-nighter then return to Interlaken on the 1st 2000. Should we do a all-nighter in Zurich? will anything be open? We are all aged between 20 – 23 and like having a good time
thats why we are going to europe! – Dida
