Hotels FAQ » Hostel » Sydney – Recommend Hostel for our first few days?
Question:
Flying into to Sydney at the start of March (same day as that big Mardi Gras parade thing). Anybody recommend a hostel/hotel, that’s pretty central, to stay in for a few days/week so we can catch up on where we are and get our bearings? There are two of us and are looking for either a double room or dorms. Budget is around $30-60/night. Cheers, Ric

the syd central YHA is a massive place, very clinical but also quite secure and squeakingly clean (at least it was when I darkened its doors in ‘98). There’s also a YHA in Glebe which is cozier, smaller, but not as central (still within walking distance of downtown though). the central one is usually booked a couple weeks in advance and is probably chockers for the mardi gras.

dont stay in the city centre u will miss out on the real sydney. city is just like being anywhere in the u.k (city) get the ferry out to manly and stay at a hostel by the sea. will easy get a place on your budget, see rough guide 4 hostels in that area. or try out wallaringa mansions in neutral bay, just get the ferry from the opera house to neutral bay, the hostel is 5mins from dreop off pont, top place? have fun — Sent via BritishExpats Forums: http://britishexpats.com
