Have you tried the hotels listed in Let’s Go? I have had good luck with last-minute bookings of hotels found in Let’s Go, Italy. They’re all inexpensive, and their main readers are college students, who are not on the road in great numbers yet in June. A good area to try is the Campo dei Fiori area, which is very conveniently located and not too close to the train station. (Let’s Go readers seem to congregate near the train stations, so hotels in that area tend to get booked up first.) The descriptions are quite accurate, so you will know what you’re getting. Some of their listings are very cheap, little above the hostel class, but their high end is nicer and is in your price range. One hotel I have tried and liked, found in Let’s Go, Italy, is La Lunetta, in the Camp dei Fiori vicinity. Barbara

My wife and I just got a confirmation today for a inexpensive hotel (~$65 availability in June. There were other choices (two or three stars) ranging from $60 to $100 per night that also available in July and seemed reasonably decent (from the internet pics anyway). Shorter notice going in June is My wife also inquired with the following hotels with some luck: Hotel Laurentia Hotel Luxor Hotel Rimini

I had the same problem for June 5th – just 1 night & certainly did not have my pick.  I find the following site has rooms when others do not & have luck with them for my Rome & Oktoberfest bookings – good luck! http://www.travelnow.com/hotels/searchframe.html Brenda Before you buy.
