how long have you got? I could talk for a year or two about bars in Bp
You want smart, with food? Or sawdust, beer and music? Start with some market to Morrisons, Piaf or Nincs Pardon, or head for the ‘bar in a field’ (if its still there this year), Zold Pardon. Bekketts or Iguana if you want to mix with ex-pats, Dokk if you want to mix with money, Pot Kucs (spl? it means ’spare key’) if you want to drink with intellectuals until way after dawn, or Old Mans Music Pub if you want live rock/blues (V. smokey place). Just grab a copy of Pesti-Est in the first bar you go into and check out whats on. Any of these may shut and/or change name at a moments notice! Enjoy it, but beware of the places with dancers in the window – they are the ones that’ll escort you to an ATM to get money for the bill. Email for more torrid details. I’ve never noticed the names of anywhere in Prague…..

opps, forgot all that: Incognito, Cafe Mediterranean, Pesti Est Cafe, a couple of pizza places to start the evening off and down to Piaf the other side of Andrasi afterward you’ve done Underground or Undergrass. Take a tram to Oktagon (every major US fast food joint there) and walk down Andrasi toward the river, its the big square on the left. there is a hostel (cant remember the name) right next to Oktagon, which has to be THE place to stay if you are on a budget.

Which is the best and cheapest way to cross from Prague to Budapest? Which train station should we go to. Thanks again Benji Dukes
Response:
I can’t recall the name, but you can’t get reservations… and they don’t take Hungarian money on the trains (I learned that the hard way, I have about 4000 forint here that are virtually useless) It’s in the west, I think.

UK banks will change them – the are fully convertible, and as such, even a US bank *should* change them…

For schedules try http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en Most fast day trains leaves from the Holesovice station in north (reached by metro) some may depart from the more central station Praha Hlavni (hln) And contrary to JusSumGuy belief you can make an advance reservation at either of the Prague stations. Cheapest and fastest is the route through Slovakia. L.P
