Question:

Are there any Hostels  or other accommodations charging less than 20pounds per night in the London city area? Thanks of behalf of an Aussie student Abroad. Dee

Response:

Being that you’re an Aussie, I’m surprised that you don’t have a thousand contacts in London for places to stay!  You’d be very very luck to find a hostel in the city for less than 20 pounds but don’t be discouraged.  There is a place in East Acton called Tent City which only opens in the summer. You can pitch your own tent or stay in one of the dorm tents that sleep 12. It’ll only cost you 8 to 12 pounds a night as I remember.  You should probably double check on that with the London Tourist board just to be sure. Other than that, most of the hostels can be found in Earls Court.  All other cheap accomodation for less than 20 pounds would be just outside London Goodluck.

Response:

Yup, unless the prices have gone up in the last 3 or 4 months, you’re looking at about 18 pound a night for a bed in a dorm at the YHA hostels, i.e. Earls Court or City Of London (near St. Pauls). London has some great B&B places to stay We are an Airport transfer service, and we Have a lot of association with B&B houses especially in South East London, (Bromley & Chislehurst). We do a lot of work for this place http://www.uk-expo.com/bnb/ Having personally shuttled the people staying at these houses, talked to them, and having seen the Houses as well, I dont think you could do better. I might just add we are nothing to do with this company other than we take their clients to/from airports in london. For the cheapest airport transfers around, Anywhere in london from the 3 major airports for GBP30:00 (Thirty pounds) check out http://www.proteus.demon.co.uk/taxi.html
