There’s 2 hostels in Hamburg and 4 in Berlin (according to IYHF). If anyone’s been to any of these, they’ll know which ones they were. Thanks anyway.

Berlin Wannsee is very nice and modern. —                   Mary Loomer Oliver (aka erilar) Erilar’s Cave Annex: http://www.airstreamcomm.net/~erilarlo

Depends on the time of year, for one thing; it’s close to Wannsee 8-)   Besides, in Berlin we needed public transport to reach various places we were interested anyway, so the actual location of the hostel wasn’t that big a factor. —                   Mary Loomer Oliver (aka erilar) Erilar’s Cave Annex: http://www.airstreamcomm.net/~erilarlo

But its a big difference.  From the downtown hostel (Kluckstrasse) to Kurfurstendamm or Zoo is about 15 maybe 20 minutes.  From Wannsee it has to be an hour (admittedly, just guessing). Thats 40 minutes each way.  makes a difference to me. Especially since the Kluckstrasse hostel is also very nice and modern. I stayed at the Circus Hostel in Berlin last October.  The rooms were very clean, and the bathrooms were cleaned *every* morning.  There are dorm beds as well as double rooms available.  The location is excellent too: there is a U-bahn station right out the front.  Highly recommended.
