Don’t have a guidebook with the subway map, huh? Shnoenenfeld is on the S45, S9, both of which pass through OstBahnhof. So, S-bahn is probably your best bet. Julie

There’s a shuttle bus every few minutes that goes from the terminal to the combined DB (rail) and S-Bahn (commuter train) station at Schoenefeld. From there there are frequent trains to Ostbahnhof that take only 15 to 20 minutes–but cost about 15 Marks if you are buying a one-way ticket. The S-Bahn (route S9) takes more like 30 minutes, but will cost only 4 or 5 Marks. If you are continuing by train from the Ostbahnhof, a railpass would cover both train and S-Bahn–otherwise you should probably ask if whatever ticket you will be using will cover the Schoenefeld-Ostbahnhof portion. Here’s an S-Bahn page: http://www.s-bahn-berlin.de/ Here is the BVG home page http://www.bvg.de/e_index.html Here is a Schoefeld airport page: http://www.berlin-airport.de/bbf/ger/sxf/weg/frame_2.htm And here is the DB railserver page which will show you schedules, though you might want to designate S-Bahn or rail when you do your search because I think the server will show fewer S-Bahn schedules if they overlap with rail schedules.: http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en?

I will be visiting Berlin in a few weeks time, and it’s a long time since I went sightseeing alone. I have downloaded a few places of interest, but what I would like to know is this, are there any bars/cafes you can recommend where I would be comfortable eating alone? — Posted via http://britishexpats.com

I am off to Berlin in a couple of weeks alone and want to know if anyone can suggest cafes or bars where I would NOT want to be eating alone in? I have been abroad and ended up in some places that have been a bit unsuitable for a single woman to be! — Posted via http://britishexpats.com

We’ve recently visited Berlin. On my homepage you can read our travellogue with photos on our trip to this great city. We particularly focussed on the new developments in the German capital in terms of architecture, shopping, museums and nightlife.
