Hotels FAQ » Hostel » Are local maps available at most train stations?
Question:
I’m trying to figure out how to get to hostels, and generally get around town, when I get to these smaller towns. For instance, my hostel guide book lists all of the hostels, however it only has street addresses. Is getting from the train station to the hostel a matter of just asking for directions, or are there maps available at the stations? Thanks, Rob Before you buy.
Response:

Do you know which towns yet? Give their names, in that case, as we may know those particular train stations (whith a bit of luck). > For instance, my hostel guide book lists all of the hostels, however it > only has street addresses. It will really vary a lot from case to case. In some cities there are posted maps in almost every street corner, but in most cities there isn’t. In most places you can buy a map somewhere on (or around) the station, but there is no guarantee of this. Bjorn Before you buy.

Which cities? Copenhagen’s tourist office is across the street from train station. * My favorite aircraft is the Boeing 747-400 * Gas costs $1.65 9/10 per Gallon in my area (Washington DC – MD)

In most cities of reasonable size, there are bookstores and newsstands in the train stations where you can buy good local maps. Tourist information offices are also often nearby – but sometimes not! – to help you out. — Don Scheidt If you had a penny for every brain cell you possess, you’d be on welfare. – Toby Guidry
