Isa, Just got back from Munich about a week ago. Stayed at two hotels there on various nights. The Hotel Kurpfalz was like our home away from home. Stayed there for three nights at different times during our trip throughout Europe. Small hotel about 10 min walk from the train station. Only two blocks from the bus. I think we paid 120 DM for each night for two people. Large (king) sized bed with really great down comforters and pillows. The free breakfast is really great. Stayed at the Jederman one night only because Kurpfalz was full. They are a little closer to the trainstation but on a very busy street. Also nice rooms, a little bigger than the Kurpfalz but very similar accomadations. Also a good free breakfast. They also have a computer in the lobby that you can use the internet on. The Jederman is a bit more expensive. I think we spent 150 DM on it. Both are great hotels though. If and when I return I will stay at one of them. Their websites are listed below. Have a great time. I know I did. Stacey http://munich-hotels.com/ – Kurpfalz http://www.hotel-jedermann.de/ – Jedermann

When I was in Berlin last July, I stayed at the Elite pension. I think it was about 19GBP per night from memory. FOr that you got a private room with en-suite shower and wash basin, plus a nice continental breakfast. It’s situated in one of the streets off of The Europa Centre which is just by Zoo station. I think it was Banke Strasse. If you arrive with nothing booked in Berlin, I found the staff at the accommodation finding service in the station itself were very helpful. Have a good trip Mark

Hi, Munich has a Tourist Office that also has a similar booking service, I’ve used them and they’ve been very helpful. for some reason Let’s Go Europe doesn’t list a hotel booking desk in Berlin (they mention them many other places) and I was wondering about that. I’ve used tourist office/desks/etc several times with varying luck. the one in Paris did find me and my buddy a bed…in a hostel…actually it was just 2 days until our more luxurious hotel was ready (we showed up in town a few days early)…an adventure…. Munich was effecient….I’ve used them a couple of times. London ok…I guess they do the best they can…but I just can’t deal with a 5th floor walkup…I’m 40… I should note I still haven’t come up with a good solution for london….I’ve considered the YMCA’s!….the indian YMCA looks especially interesting….I’m open for suggestions for smallish hotels/b&bs… the perfect solution would be a b&b close to a tube, lift if over 2 floors, english breakfast… I don’t really care about the w/c situation….I can be flexible on that if I can get the tube/lift. Florence was interesting…in front of the official tourist office there were -CROWDS- of old men tauting rooms in various small pensionne….room for 3 came to 12$us. I’ve used the VVV to book a room for my mother in Amsterdam and the VVV people are Wonderful. but the VVV is the best tourist office in the world. akia — "I won’t be wronged. I won’t be insulted.
