Question:
is there anybody who can recommand me a hotel for 2 days in nairobi? I come there after a 50 days trip from captown and have to stay there 2 days until I fly home. The hotel should be not so expensive but safe. Also I will be happy if someone can tell me how to act there. Thanks for help Kreta

Mid-price hotels where I’ve stayed are the Mayfair Court, the Landmark and the Fairview. Just act like you’d act anywhere else, presumably you act more-or-less like most other people when staying in a hotel? 50 days from Cape Town? …Sounds like an overland tour. On the budget end of the spectrum, there is Nairobi Youth Hostel, AFAIK, the only YHA in East Africa. It is far enough from city center to be reasonably safe. Yet it is not so far that getting into the center is difficult. Mutatu’s are quick and you can even walk. *Don’t* try to walk with a pack. Crime rate in Nairobi is very high. Generally, keep valuables, including cameras, in the locker back at the youth hostel. Walking after dark is also asking for trouble, as is riding a mutatu after dark. If you are on overland tour, the tour will likely end at Nairobi Park Services camp site. It’s a reasonable place to spend a couple of days. They have somewhat crowded dorm accommodation, decent food and there often day safaris in Nairobi National Park. About the major down side is that it is quite far from city center. ’Inconvenient if you want to do some business in town, like get photos developed or visit an Internet cafe. —
