My wife and I very much prefer to stay in small hotels and I did quite a bit of digging on the internet for our recent trip to Europe. Generally, the descriptions and room photographs found on the internet tended to embellish a bit. Not so when we arrived at the Hotel Synopsis in Amsterdam. Synopsis is a restored canal house with 2 guest rooms (canal room and garden room) located in a very quiet neighborhood on a canal not far from central city. The canal room, in which we stayed, was spacious, warm and immaculate. Amenities included wood plank floors, antique furniture, colorful accessories, mini kitchen (no cooking), and a very roomy and absolutely smashing bathroom. The owner bent over backwards to assist us whether we needed directions or flue medicine! The rate for our stay was 250 guilders per night. We highly recommend this little gem to anyone seeking a 4 star room in a small hotel at a 3 star price. I assume the flue medicine is for the sick fireplace. John
