Question:
Hi all I aa going to Egypt in next week I will be in cairo at 3.50 am do you know any good and cheap hotel in cair? And how much can cost taxi from airprt to hotel Thanks Matti
Response:
try the Pharaohs Hotel (12, Lotfi Hassouna St. Dokki downtown,) about $30 US low budget about 3 star. Very close to Ramses Square. The trip from the airport to downtown is about 45 min. You should NOT pay more than $50 Egyptian Pds. the range is from 40-50. You should also agree to the price BEFORE getting into the cab, and not pay till after you arrive. Make sure you have some pounds when you arrive the $ exchangers at the airport are brutal. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > Hi all > I aa going to Egypt in next week > I will be in cairo at 3.50 am do you know any good and cheap hotel in cair? > And how much can cost taxi from airprt to hotel > Thanks > Matti

I’v changed my U$ at exchange booth with no fuss. And the ATM is there as far as I can remember, which was used by me also. — Janusz Bialystok, Poland Moje podroze: http://www.deville.prv.pl <- N O W Y A D R E S ! ! ! Odpowiadajac usun XXX z adresu / On reply remove XXX from my address

Marcin, How cheap is cheap? When travelling as a student on REALLY tight budget I stayed in Amin hotel, two streets from Cairo Museum (maybe they are still in business) Get the latest copy of travel guide by Lonely planet, there should be plenty of recommendations there. Taxi drivers have arrangements with hotel owners, if you ask them to take you to inexpensive hotel, you going for surprise… Good luck, Irek www.secunda.co.za/irek – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > Hi all > I aa going to Egypt in next week > I will be in cairo at 3.50 am do you know any good and cheap hotel in cair? > And how much can cost taxi from airprt to hotel > Thanks > Matti

You could say that again, a single ride from airport to downtown (NOT the other way around) is about 25 Egyptian pounds. Regards, John.

Windsor Hotel. A great, funky historic old hotel that’s not as plush as the pictures on its web site. See http://www.windsorcairo.com/. Cheap and lots of fun. Can’t help with the taxi rates. There’s probably an airport bus, but maybe not at 3:50 a.m. Harlan —- Soft Adventure tours, the way to go, at http://softadventure.net Japan in Autumn 2002, http://softadventure.net/japan2002.htm Windjamming in the Caribbean, http://softadventure.net/windjammer2003.htm Argentina/Chile/Easter Island in March/April 2003.
