I decided the departure lounge at terminal IAB was the most comfortable. There is a runway on one side & a view down to the lobby (people watching) on the other. If you smoke then nothing beats the Mariott airport hotel where you can actually puff away whilst inside (but cannot see any planes take-off!).

Glyn: Thanks for your suggestion.  I’ll have another look at my IAH map to   figure out where that is.  IAB is the international arrivals terminal, right?
